The Mesa line is a brand-new design for me which has a few design aspects specific for the intended use. I have a video explaining some of the main reasons why I designed this series the way I did. I wanted to stray away from my Kindling line and make something completely different, but extremely ergonomic, functional, and beautiful all at the same time. Reaching, chopping, or day-to-day use, the Mesa pieces are ready for you. With a slight change in geometry, I can easily make it optimal for bushcraft, edc, or hunting.
Currently, I have made the Mesa line a new-to-me blade shape of a straight back design. This means that the spine does not drop to the tip like a more common droppoint. I have also used the Mesa size and handle with a modified sheepsfoot style, which is perfect for EDC tasks and chopping with the low, easy-to-access tip.
The sizing is designed for the regular and XL models to share the same handle size, but the XL having a 1-inch longer blade. The Mesa Mini has both a smaller blade and a smaller handle for edc. XL: 4.5" blade, 9.5 OAL. Regular: 3.5" blade, 8.5" OAL. Mini: 3" Blade, 7" OAL.
Mesa XL Straightback
The Mesa XL is built for use, and depending on how you use it, it will outperform your expectations. With a 4.5" blade, this model is ready to work. When you take this to the bush for camping, survival, or hunting, you won't be disappointed. Hold it up close to the edge for control or fall back on the handle to get more leverage for chopping. It is comfortable, however you hold it.
Mesa XL Sheepsfoot
The Mesa XL SF was designed for bushwork. For example, one of the main jobs I do when I am working around weather stations is to clear vegetation. The slightly additional forward weight found in the upswept spine helps for chopping actions when clearing willows, branches, and other vegetation. The low tip means that even with the larger 4.5" blade, it is still easy to use the tip for fine tasks.
Mesa Straightback
The Knife that started this series. The Mesa. With a 3.5" blade, it is 1" shorter than the XL model, which, depending on your use case scenarios, may be more appropriate. The handle will give you plenty of control for any fine cuts you are performing. The shorter blade gives you better control with the tip when precision is needed.
Mesa Mini Straightback
After designing the Mesa and Mesa XL, I wanted to create something that folks could easily carry daily. an 8.75"-9.75" overall length knife isn't always easy to put in your pocket and carry daily. Hence, the Mesa Mini was made. With an OAL of 6.5" and a 3" blade, it can perform any EDC tasks you throw at it. With the leather pocket sheaths I make for each blade, the Mesa Mini disappears into your pocket and you won't notice it, but it is there when you need it.
Mesa Mini Sheepsfoot
The Mesa Mini SF is the ideal EDC tool with a low and easy-to-access tip. This means that you need to lift the handle and your arm only slightly to use the tip for any fine task.
